Fun in the Christchurch mud

Fun in the mud

On Sunday the 26th of March the TR Group Christchurch team participated in the Christchurch Muddy Good Run Challenge, aptly referred to as “New Zealand’s muddiest mud run”. The event was held at the Canterbury A&P Showgrounds to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities NZ.

TR’s Kelly Cullen organised the day and marshalled the TR team as they took on a variety of muddy obstacles over distances of 5km for the main event and 3km for the family event. Joey McIsaac, Kurt Ronald, Luke Baker and his son Caleb, Kelly Cullen and Ricky Cheer participated in the 5km run, while Ricky Cheer ran again in the 3km family event with his wife, son, and daughter in tow.

The weather was fine and warm as the TR team joined hundreds of competitors on a course consisting of muddy obstacles every 200 metres. These obstacles included cargo nets hanging over mud holes, skip bins full of muddy water that needed to be waded through, horse jumps, slippy-slides, camo net crawls, cars to climb over and utes to be crawled under. At the finish line, the TR team was barely recognisable, covered in huge splotches of sticky, dirty mud.

The local Fire and Emergency team were on hand at the end of the race to hose everyone off before the TR team joined Pete Cochrane to end the day to enjoy a warm lunch and a few drinks at the TR BBQ.
