TR Group promotes Women in Transport

New Zealand has always pioneered equality between men and women and a prime example is our country being the first in the world to give women the right to vote. Fast forward to 2018 and there’s no doubt that society’s progressed further towards equality. However, the transport industry still has a reputation for being a “man’s world”. Slowly but surely, we’ve improved and evolved as an industry by not putting boundaries on individuals based on their gender.

As our very own General Manager, Brendan King puts it “women are under-represented in the transport industry and I can’t see any good reason why”, which is why together with FUSO NZ, TR Group is granting two scholarships to the Women in Road Transport (WiRT) forum. These scholarships allow its beneficiaries to fast track getting their Class 2 licence, enabling them to jet set their career in the transport industry. Brendan continued by saying, “Ultimately, more qualified and experienced drivers reduces pressure on transport operations, making them safer and more productive” and that’s what we’re hoping to achieve by creating a path for women to be more involved in the industry.

TR Group is in the people business. That simply means we are men and women who love trucks and are driven to make heavy vehicle fleet management easy for every person we deal with. This statement is not limited to men alone. TR Group is represented by amazing men and women from different backgrounds, bonded by the values we share. As we move forward to another year, we hope to keep evolving and once again be pioneers towards equality in the trucking and transport industry.
