TR Driver Training and DT Driver Training are the preferred training providers for thousands of new and experienced drivers and machine operators every month, in some of the biggest companies and organisations in New Zealand, including the NZ Defence Force, Toll Group, Foodstuffs, Bunnings, Z Energy and more.
Learning is more engaging with video and animation which is why we are looking for a learning experience designer with a great design eye and production skills. You’ll be part of a team of 200 people, including over 20 driving instructors, who love helping people get the most out of their vehicles and machinery. The course content covers all kinds of light and heavy vehicles.
This role is extremely diverse, so you’ll be like a knowledge vacuum cleaner, willing to push your own learning so that we can explore the boundaries of online, blended and in-class learning for our clients.
What are the main skills required in your role?
- Determining the assessment requirements for a course
- Designing the learning experience
- Video editing using Adobe Premiere
- Animation using Adobe Animate
- Course production using Articulate (or Captivate, if you prefer)
- Filming segments using our camera gear
- Photography – capturing images for use in the courses
- Basic image editing in PhotoShop
- Voiceover editing in Audacity or Adobe Suite
- Production management – coordinating your own work and making sure you meet deadlines, assisting in coordinating production with our trainers and other talent.
What qualifications do you need?
No specific qualifications are required, but you need to show a real aptitude for this type of work and be a self-starter able to work autonomously. That means we need to see a showreel, preferably with some real commercial work and an explanation of your role in each piece. You’ll need to be at intermediate level or higher.
You must have an excellent grasp of English. It doesn’t need to be your first language, but you will be dealing with some complex concepts and terminology, plus people from a broad range of backgrounds, so your communication in English must be fluent.
You’ll be involved in several projects simultaneously and every day will be different.
What are the nice-to-haves?
- Blender or other 3D animation software skills
- Experience using SaaS animation tools such as Powtoon
What are the work hours?
Full-time flexible - start between 7 and 9. Some evening and weekend work may be required, as dictated by shooting schedules and deadlines.
Where will you work?
Primarily you’ll be working from our modern, comfortable Penrose, Auckland office, although you will be able to work from home sometimes. There’s an on-site gym, flash coffee machine, free parking, free fruit, a reserve opposite the road and it’s 5 minutes’ drive from Sylvia Park. A few times a year you may be required to travel out of Auckland for course production.
