Sulo Talbot bins

Sulo Talbot manufactures a variety of waste and recycling containers including Mobile Garbage Bins (MGBs) for the local New Zealand market.

When Sulo Talbot was awarded the contract to supply and deliver wheelie bins for the Christchurch City Council the company needed to act quickly and efficiently. Manufacturing and.delivering over 450,000 wheelie bins to Christchurch houeholds within nine months presented a great challenge!

Sulo Talbot - bin delivery2

Sulo Talbot approached TR soon after to discuss and plan the most efficient method of distribution. Understanding exactly what the job involved - and then delivering -  were key to the successful vehicle rental solution agreed to between TR and Sulo Talbot.

Commenting on the solution and project outcome, Sulo Talbot's Business Development Manager, Karen Murray, said "Reliable transport plays a critical role in delivering our bin distribution projects on time - and TR Group can be relied upon to deliver what they promise."

The Sulo Talbot Challenge

Challenge (brief by Sulo Talbot to TR Group)

Sulo Talbot Limited had won the contract to supply and deliver all the wheelie bins for the Christchurch City Council.

Over 450,000 wheelie bins had to be delivered safely and efficiently to all Christchurch households within a nine-month time frame.

Solution (presented to Sulo Talbot by TR Group)

Sulo Talbot initially considered using small flat-deck trucks.  Looking at the project, TR Group suggested 5-tonne curtain-side trucks would best the requirements of the job.

TR Group believed the advantages of the 5-tonne curtain-side trucks were:

  • Reduced number of trucks required
  • Maximised load space
  • Decreased number of trips
  • Curtain-sided trucks provided a covered workspace to assemble the wheelie bins

Outcome (for Sulo Talbot)

  • TR Group 5-tonne curtain-side trucks worked productively and profitably (as expected)
  • The project was completed on-time by Sulo Talbot
  • Sulo Talbot was impressed with the solution provided and smooth implementation by TR Group
  • Sulo Talbot used TR Group trucks for their next wheelie bin contract in Palmerston North
